‘La Course’ // Linocut print
I recently got a request to make a female version of my ‘Paris-Roubaix’ print, not on the cobbles of the Hell of the North, but on the cobbles of the Champs-Élysées. Since 2014, this is the battleground where ‘La Course’ is held, a women’s professional one-day bicycle race that takes place before the men finish their Tour de France on the Champs-Élysées. I was immediately super stoked about this idea, because I was already thinking to make a print about, and dedicated to women who have a shared addiction for the bicycle. It’s also a challenge to make a more or less totally different print from the Paris-Roubaix one. The cobblestones of the Champs-Élysées vary a lot from Paris-Roubaix’ pavé sections, they’re placed in a different way, smaller, and smoother. The whole print is a bit more refined than the old one. Pretty happy with it!
