‘A Certain Slant of Light’ #2 // Reduction linocut
My new reduction linocut print: ‘A Certain Slant of Light.’ In reduction printmaking, you create a print with several layers of printing with the use of just one block. The linoleum is gradually cut away, and each new color is printed on top of the last. The image slowly emerges while the linoleum block is being destroyed. A reduction print can never be reprinted. The process is exciting, but also nerve-wracking – if you make a mistake in a certain layer, you can’t go back!
I printed this linocut in two different colorways, one using a little bit more dramatic colors and one more modest version.
Paper size is approximately 28cm x 28cm // 11″ x 11″
